Outer Banks Surf Recap: 2012 Tropical Storm Leslie

Outer Banks: 9.4.12 – OBX Surf is Pumping!

One of the best swells of 2012 has come and gone. Scratch that…the best swell of 2012. Tropical Storm/Hurricane Leslie was OBX surf perfection.

Big storm slowly meandering in the middle of the Atlantic, pumping big swell to the Outer Banks, with 80 degree water, 80 degree air, and perfect offshore winds.

Yep, OBX surf perfection. And it seems everyone’s shoulders have finally regained strength after all the paddling to get some editing done. I came across three great Leslie surf recaps today that are well worth sharing.

1. Here’s a great quick intro to the stellar waves Leslie sent to the East Coast. This video is short and sweet. It’s a bit north of the Outer Banks because this dude is wearing a wetsuit, and the OBX water was perfect for just trunks, but I love the idea of a camera resting on the beach catching a great ride.

2. Here’s a great photo essay from Surfline.com that offers 36 rad pictures of Leslie surf from the East Coast…with a big percentage on the OBX!

3. And my personal fav, a super rad video from Bruce Jones of local OBX surfers tearing up the OBX Leslie Surf. Great surfing, great editing, great tunes. Home run Bruce!
